The purpose of the Te Ara Moana Indigenous Leadership Summit is to gather in a spirit of unity and to collaborate, so we can understand and apply indigenous ways that have been handed down to us by our ancestors for centuries.

Te Ara Moana 2020 is packed with inspiring Key Note speakers and engaging workshops. Young adults between the ages 18 - 25 will attend to connect indigenous cultures to inspire each other and create leaders in the process.

Te Ara Moana an ancient tidal pathway that connects us throughout Te Moana Nui A Kiwa 'The Pacific Ocean'. It connected our Islands, whakapapa, stories, and collective narrative. Known by Tohunga (learned/skilled person) it was used as the primary source of navigation between our various islands within the South Pacific Ocean. This powerful metaphor provides the kaupapa for ’Te Ara Moana’ the Indigenous Leadership Summit.

Our key question for the Hui is: How can our cultural ways of knowing and being assist us in 'navigating' through the 21st century?
