We're going on another cultural exploration - this time to Ethiopia!

With travel still off the cards, we have curated an intimate East African food and music adventure, right here on the island. We've teamed up with Yeshi Desta from My Mother's Kitchen - a pop-up Ethiopian restaurant that will be taking over The Pinter for one night only.

Yeshi will work together with acclaimed global beat explorer, DJ Uncle Barnie, to curate an epic night of authentic homestyle Ethiopian food mixed with rare, tropical Ethiopian vinyl.

It will be a sensory explosion. You will use your hands instead of forks to feast on communal platters of traditional slow-cooked meats, exotic spice-infused lentils served with injera (sour pancake-like bread) and salads. Breathe in unusual and hard-to-source herbs and spices while your ears discover the hypnotic sounds of the 1960's Ethiopian jazz and pop scene. 

All Yeshi's recipes have been handed down by her Mother, Abegish, and records played have been hand-picked and sourced through Barnie's extensive research for music radio documentaries and a trip through Ethiopia. This will be a very special and delicious night. 

$80 per person. Your ticket includes:

• An Ethiopian feast
• Drink on arrival
• Entertainment by the aurally inspired DJ Uncle Barnie

Limited spots are available for this intimate event 

Although we can't cater to specific dietary requirements as all the dishes are shared, many of the dishes are vegan and Injera is gluten-free (made with an ancient African grain called ‘teff’)
