The Hawera memorial Theatre Trust welcomes you to its 10th birthday party.

Celebration Concert is a fundraising variety concert for the Trust and director Russ Standing has brought together performers and artists from around the maunga to perform for you.

The Theatre Trust Singers, Hawera Brass, Hawera Highland Pipe Band, Michelle Glover’s Dance Academy, and some accomplished soloists will give you, our audiences, a truly superb show. Philippa Drinkwater, Paula Frearson, Shaun Campbell, Maren Seaver and Shane Burgess are among the soloists along with a new act to Trust productions, Bergen Raikes & Brothers Quartet! You will be in for some great performances.

With only TWO PERFORMANCES scheduled, patrons will need to book early – so do not delay – do not be disappointed!

The Hawera Memorial Theatre Trust was formed in 2011 and has worked alongside the South Taranaki District Council to maintain, renovate, and rejuvenate the Hawera Memorial Theatre.

Ten years on and South Taranaki residents can rightly claim this to be one of the best small-town theatres in the country providing a modern venue for local schools, societies, and artists of all genres along with national and international touring groups to perform. These events bring people into the town and, importantly, into the theatre to experience modern-day theatre – the same that is available in our larger cities.

The theatre boasts a sophisticated 25 bar counterweight system, state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, full LED stage wash lights, a luxurious auditorium featuring wall dioramas depicting early theatre life in South Taranaki, photo-lined walls tracing the performers and performances of the past years, an orchestra pit and it has one of the largest stage areas in theatres in Taranaki.

Performers are also well catered for in “the green room” with a fully functioning kitchen area, make-up, and dressing rooms and toilet facilities.

Many of the additions and improvements over the past ten years have been made possible by the fund-raising of the Theatre Trust. The Trust is proud to be part of this on-going development and will continue to support the Council to keep this theatre a viable, modern, and functional venue for the years to come.

Book for Celebration Concert and you are helping the Trust help the community.
