Follow the story of a young orphan Oliver Twist. After causing a stir in the workhouse, Oliver is sold to the Undertakers but manages to escape. While on the run in the mean streets of London Oliver is befriended by a charismatic young pickpocket the Artful Dodger. Dodger takes Oliver under his wing and introduces him to the underground pickpockets, led by Fagin. Oliver is caught stealing and captured by a wealthy gentleman Mr Brownlow. 

The pickpockets, Fagin and his initimidating prodigy Bill Sikes plot to steal the young boy back, fearing that Oliver may spill the beans on their misdeeds. Nancy, Bill Sikes' girlfriend expresses her reluctance to do so, wanting Oliver to have the chance at a better life. Despite this Oliver is taken back to the underground operation.

Mr Brownlow can't shake the feeling that Oliver bears a striking resemblance to his late daughter, and attempts to retrieve the boy. Guilt-ridden Nancy decides to help Mr Brownlow by returning Oliver to him, but her plan is foiled by Bill Sikes.
