A Concert to Welcome Summer
A fine string ensemble from Orchestras Central, called OCT Ensemble, with Aidan Phillips, tenor and bassoonists Ben Hoadley and Todd Gibson-Cornish.
A wonderful program in this exceptionally beautiful wharenui to welcome the coming Summer. Afternoon tea will be provided following the concert. After that there will be a talk in the wharenui to explain some of the glorious carvings.
This will be the second concert to be held in the Te Iho Rangi wharenui at the Fairfield College Marae. The first, in June this year, was a great success and was greeted with such enthusiasm and wonder at the beautiful venue, one of Kirikiriroa’s hidden treasures, that another just had to be organized. The joy of music is needed even more in these testing times.
As demand for that first concert in June was so strong many people missed out on securing a seat. So this next concert is your chance to have a very special experience. But don’t delay making a booking.
This concert will also be a fundraiser to provide all-weather canopies for the forecourt (pae pae) in front of the Wharenui.
Program
Waiata: Whakarongo mai
Mozart: Symphony No.29
Handel: Aria from Rodelinda
Doris Prentice : Two New Zealand Bird Songs (arranged by Michel Vinten)
Michael Williams: A Gift to the Wharenui No 2.
Vanhal: Concerto for 2 bassoons
Waiata: To be advised
There is provision on the payment form for you to make a donation to this project in addition to your ticket purchase support.
