The Royal New Zealand Navy Band is an extremely versatile ensemble of full time professional military musicians. The Band's primary role is to perform as a Military Band providing music for the ceremonial, public relations, recruiting and entertainment requirements of the Royal New Zealand Navy, the New Zealand Defence Force and the New Zealand Government. The Navy Band has a maximum of 25 full time musicians.

A professional and high standard of performance is demanded of the Band's musicians in whatever format or genre it is performing. For this reason it is in demand both locally and internationally. Public and school concert tours within New Zealand occur three or four times annually. Internationally the Band has toured, performed in concerts and at Military Tattoos in places such as Korea, Japan, Tonga, Samoa, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Canada, Turkey, England and USA.
