Due to Covid impact and Auckland Council rules we have chosen to postpone Smoke on the Coast 2022 until Matariki Weekend (24-26th June 2022).

We apologise for the inconvenience but hope you will still choose to join us in June.

Smoke on the Coast is probably the most loved barbecue competition in Aotearoa.

Located on the shore of the stunning Whangateau Harbour, Smoke on the Coast is a drawcard for all barbecue teams from novices to experts and anyone who wants to enjoy a weekend at the beach with like minded cooks and of course, family!

Come join us as a judge of NZ's finest BBQ. No experience required, just a love of good food, especially barbecue!
Full training given on the day. You will be required from 9am till approx. 4pm on your chosen day.

Grill & Chill at Smoke on the Coast is a unique new SCA event to be run at Smoke on the Coast, Whangateau Holiday park on 24th.

All normal Steak Cookoff rules will apply. Competitors will be given, as part of entry, a small, portable charcoal grill that they must assemble and cook on for this event. This is a Promoters rule and fits within the rules of SCA – i.e. you may cook using this grill and any heat source, but you MUST cook on this grill.

Entry is $150 per competitor and includes One steak cook in one day. Entrants may also enter to cook the ancillary category. Ancillary can only be entered by those also cooking steak.

Only the named cook may cook their steak – this is NOT a team event.

Please ensure you're familiar with the Smoke on the Coast's Health & Safety conditions, NZBA, SCA Rules and 'Rules of Engagement'.
