“Garbo laughs!” rejoiced the poster upon the release of Ernst Lubitsch’s comedy NINOTCHKA in 1939. In a savvy bit of casting, cool and composed diva Greta Garbo stars as an idealistic, uptight Russian woman who gets sent to Paris and promptly succumbs to the many temptations the City of Lights has to offer: Champagne, parties, joie de vivre and love.

The plot for NINOTCHKA is based on a brilliant 1937 poolside pitch by one Melchior Lengyel: “Russian girl saturated with Bolshevist ideals goes to Paris. She meets romance and has an uproarious time. Capitalism is not so bad, after all.”

Rated G. Ticket prices includes a sweet treat by Chocolatier Mirams on arrival. Running time 110 mins.
