From Estelle Anna Lewis' 1868 classic, Sappho of Lesbos: A Tragedy, this fast-paced retelling springs new life, and laughter, into Sappho herself.

A tragicomedy in five acts, a chorale of characters whip through the epic highs and lows of being cursed with genius. Emerging practitioner, Isla Frame, has adapted and directed Sappho: Lesbians & Lyres for the modern, queer audience. With their fast-paced wit, this talented cast (made up of Narise Hansen, Gabbi Jones, and Sinéad Deighton-O'Flynn) will show you what Ancient Greece was really all about: duels, music, and of course, lesbians.

All attendees over 12yrs will be required to present their My Vaccine Pass on arrival and wear a mask at the venue. Pitt St Theatre and the Sappho: Lesbians & Lyres company will be following government regulations.

Valentines Day Special: Bring your loved one/s, or just yourself, along to Sappho: Lesbians & Lyres at the special rate of $15 per ticket

Chilled Performance: An more relaxed performance. Some technical elements reduced in intensity. Babes in arms welcome. Special rate of $15 per ticket.

Artist Supporter: A special ticket type that allows you to further support theatre-makers. The effects of Covid-19 have been especially impactful on the live performance sector and your support goes a long way to sustaining our mahi.

Production funded by Auckland Council Creative Communities Scheme and produced by Natalya Mandich-Dohnt.
