Introducing Northland’s originals band, Sound Loungers.

Lead singer and song writer, Mark De Vries, started composing the band’s original songs in Wellington. Moving North to Kerikeri and meeting musicians at our own very special music hub “The Soundlounge”, Mark’s songs evolved as he jammed alongside fellow Northland musicians and formed his current band with the songs becoming a ‘collective’ project.

The band’s name came about as an acknowledgment to Noel, owner of The Soundlounge, and his contribution to the music scene in the Far North.

The band’s originals have developed a feel-good sound, with a style & groove evocative of the 1980’s. Their original music has been well received, and the band are enjoying playing at some beautiful Northland locations.

Keen to support local, the band are currently cutting their second CD with M Music - Merv Pinny’s recording studio based at The Turner Centre in Kerikeri. Band members Mark De Vries (lead vocals, guitar), Luke Bowring (guitar), Julian Brady (bass) and Dave Hill (drums) all bring many years of experience playing with different bands and genres. As a result, each member has developed their own style and combined together they have created gorgeous warm harmonic tones and stunning guitar riffs that compliment Mark’s distinctive vocals.

Supporting local is really important to the Sound Loungers and for their event at the Turner Centre, they are delighted to invite the young up & coming band No Vacancy as their support band. No Vacancy have come through the Be Free Youth Mentoring through Music Programme.

The Sound Loungers look forward to bringing you an enjoyable evening of Northland musicianship.
