IMPORTANT UDPATE – 5th April 2022

Westside Weekend was borne out of the desire to bring National League Basketball action to the Coast and allow the visiting players & coaches to engage with the local community.

There is a commitment to the Canterbury Rams & Nelson Giants to provide these matches as a key part of their pre-season activity and in conjunction with this the teams will undertake an extensive schedule of school visits, along with specialised coaching clinics for budding young basketballers.

The guidelines currently in place under the traffic light setting mean indoor events are restricted to 200 capacity and there was no change to this limit with the Government announcement on 4th April, as we had hoped for.

This event has been made possible by the generous backing and support from numerous local sponsors and their commitment needs to be acknowledged in providing them access to watch the event in line with the obligations originally agreed.  With this considered in conjunction with the capacity limit, access to the stadium for both days of Westside Weekend will be for these sponsors and their invited guests.

It is hugely disappointing and regrettable to those who have supported the event and purchased tickets, however this is obviously outside of our direct control and we need to find a solution for those involved, including the teams as they prepare for their upcoming National League season.

Communication will come from iTICKET in regard to the refund process

In some more favourable news, the games on Saturday 5th April will be livestreamed via the Westside Weekend Facebook page, including some expert commentary for the NBL clash between the Rams & Giants.
