Ngā Tohu o Te Taiao | Kōanga Festival 2022 | Te Pou Theatre

Connecting to the maramataka through pūrakau, puoro and toi onepū.

This new multi artform performance work builds our connection to the tohu of the natural world, celebrating the change in season in a soul filling live arts experience.

The performance brings together mātauranga Māori with Rikki Solomon, live sand art from Marcus Winter and taonga puoro from Pūoro Jērome. In this first development of the project, these creatives weave stories of Kōanga through video and wānanga, connecting us to this time and place.

      Tuia ki te whenua
      Tuia ki te rangi
      Tuia ki te moana

Rikki shares mātauranga around the tohu of the change of seasons from the skies, the land and manu, the ocean and our waterways. We then look to the marama and the night sky and ground ourselves in this time of Kōanga.

This work is presented by Te Pou Theatre as part of their Kōanga Festival 2022, celebrating Māori storytelling for the stage. See www.tepoutheatre.nz for full festival programme.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before show start time. Latecomers admitted into the theatre at Basement's discretion. No refunds will be given.
