For the first time in Festival history, comes a chance to experience manaakitanga (hospitality) at its finest. Enjoy a hangi, a traditional Māori meal where the central purpose is to bring communities together.

The Hangi is to pay homage to the Mārae around the region that pulled up their Mara Kai (vegetable gardens) in order to feed people after the 1931 Earthquake.

After kai (food), you will be treated to a performance by internationally recognised performers, Kahurangi Māori Dance Theatre. Kahurangi will take you on a journey of music, dance and narrative.
