The ASB Polyfest, Auckland’s Secondary Schools Maori & Pacific Islands Cultural Festival is back for 2023!
Celebrating 48 years of Polyfest history, this event will re-open its gates after a year of Covid restrictions, to family, friends, stallholders and especially student performers. ASB Polyfest organisers are expecting large crowds and students eager to perform live and across several cultural stages.
The 2023 theme is Mana Motuhake which for this year’s event translates into creating one’s own destiny. This can encompass many meanings so each stage will incorporate what Mana Motuhake means to them.
The 2023 ASB Polyfest features two key dates and venues as the Maori stage performances are delayed this year so students can participate in Te Matatini (the largest Kapa Haka competition) in February, and have time to prepare and perform on the ASB Polyfest Maori stage in early April.
The official powhiri is 8 March 2023 and will be attended by all participating stages (Cook Islands, Diversity, Maori, Niue, Samoa and Tonga). #ASBPolyfest2023
