For one night only, the Eat NZ Kaitaki - Aotearoa’s next generation of food storytellers will dish up a discussion about what comes next.
Eat NZ Founder and award-winning chef Giuilio Sturla (Mapu) will join forces with five young Kaitaki chefs: Max Gordy (Graze Wine Bar), Jack Shewell (Food by Fire), Ellis Robbins (Everybody Eats), Baxter Neil (Hillside Kitchen) and Nikos Moraitis (Wharerata).
Together they will present an immersive dining experience that celebrates the power of connection among this inspiring group of 100 future food leaders, who represent all aspects of our food system; from food production to transformation, celebration and food experience.
The five courses (plus treats) will honour the connections between chefs and some of the incredible producers and winemakers from within this collective and beyond. Including Tora Collective, Ocean Speared, Mangaroa Farms, Cranky Goat, as well as Huntress Wines, Vita Wines and Ashleigh Barrowman Wines.
Each course will speak to their vision for a more resilient and equitable food system, touching on topics such as full utilisation, biodiversity, supporting small food producers (#LotsOfLittle), minimising food waste (#RepurposeTheSurplus), supporting local food systems (#GrowFoodCommunities), as well as #KnowYourFisher, #KnowYourFarmer and #EatNZGrains.
With dishes such as Italian paua sammies, Mangaroa farms crudites, spearfished butterfish crudo, banana noodles, bread miso made from entirely NZ-grown grains, free range NZ pork glazed with seaweed hot sauce and goats cheese magnums.
Since its inception in 2020, the Eat NZ Kaitaki collective has become a place to connect, to ferment ideas, instigate change, and create an impact greater than the sum of its parts. They come from all across New Zealand; from Te Tai Tokerau (Northland) to Rakiura (Stewart Island). Their stories are the embodiment of what makes New Zealand food unique.
Get yourself a seat at the table, for the unique opportunity to experience what comes next..
We’re grateful to have the support of Freedom Farms, who are championing NZ free range pork and who value the voices of the next-generation of the Aotearoa food story.
Ticket includes: Five course meal.
Please note that seating for this event will be at shared tables, this means you may be seated with other people as well as the group you have booked with.
