The outstanding Argyle Trio (violin, cello, piano) presents some of the greatest works written for piano trio by Beethoven, Dvorak and Smetana. Violinist, Wilma Smith, is a New Zealand musical icon - founding first violinist of the NZ String Quartet, Concertmaster of the NZSO and then the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. She is joined by two extraordinary, multi-award-winning young musicians. Cellist, Matthias Balzat, already well-known to Hamilton audiences since his studies at Waikato University, is building an exciting international career based in Europe but luckily for NZ fans, he returns home regularly to perform. Melbourne-based pianist, Laurence Matheson, is one of Australia’s most sought-after collaborators, performing with the best local and international artists at chamber music festivals throughout the country.

The Argyle Trio’s national tour of New Zealand is a joyous reunion after a three-year hiatus due to border closures and difficulties with international travel.

This will be a landmark concert in a beautiful location – the Te Whare Waka o Te Winika at Waikato Museum.
