Step into the world of kapa haka with the Turner Centre's 9-week program led by Ngati Rehia's Rawi Pere and Crystal Harden.
The Tutors
Mother and daughter Rawi Pere and Crystal Harden (Ngati Rehia ) are the organisers of Te Hui Ahurei o Ngati Rehia, a kapa haka festival for primary and intermediate-aged students across the wider Ngati Rehia rohe. They believe that adults benefit from kapa haka just as much as tamariki and rangatahi and they want to share their culture, skills and knowledge with the wider Whangaroa and Bay of Islands community. “Kapa haka brings people into a safe place in unity, and grows that whanaungatanga, that sense of belonging."
