POSTPONEMENT OF THE HAURAKI BIKE FEST

An announcement from Diane Drummond, Chief Executive Officer - Hauraki Rail Trail Charitable Trust

I regret to inform you that the Hauraki Bike Fest 2024 due to be held on 6/7 April has been postponed. All ticket holders that have pre-purchased tickets will be refunded 100% of the ticket price. iTICKET will be in touch directly with ticket holders.

I have made this difficult decision due to circumstances beyond our control, which have subsequently caused us to re-evaluate the timing of our event. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

We will provide an update once we have resolved the underlying issues that lead to this decision, including additional funding, and resolving some of the legislative issues we faced.

Thank you for supporting the inaugural Hauraki Bike Fest event, and we look forward to making this awesome event happen in the future.

Reconnect with food, nature and each other, exploring the spectacular Karangahake Gorge. Indulge in a unique long table, three course lunch dining experience, followed by a Gin tasting with a magical dusting of edible gold.

Ease into your ride with the promise of Mt. Atkinson coffee, in a building originally commissioned as the National Bank Gold Refinery in 1914, before following the Ohinemuri River through the Karangahake Gorge. Pack a torch and marvel at the 1100m long tunnel which took five years to complete using picks and shovels. Hop off the bike to discover the unique surroundings of the staircase Owharoa Falls, a series of three waterfalls.

Just a stones throw away, pause for a unique dining experience with a carefully crafted lunch menu, showcasing seasonal dishes using homegrown organic produce. A short ride from Waikino, explore the concrete cyanide tank stands reminiscent of ancient ruins which are among the remains of the Victoria Battery, constructed in 1897 to crush ore from the Martha Mine.

At the Waikino Memorial Bridge cross the river to experience award winning Eliza’s Claim Gold Gin with fourteen different botanicals, and enjoy story telling of times past and present, before a gentle return ride to Paeroa.

End your ride at the Paeroa Maritime Park and enjoy the Festival Hub atmosphere and be in with a chance to win the Grand Prize – a West Coast Wilderness Trail Experience plus other giveaways. Fuel up with delicious fare, grab a cold drink, listen to live music, kick back, and share the highlights of your Bike Fest experience with family and friends.
