2073. Tāmaki Makaurau. Civil war looms, resources are scarce and the Aotearoa United Defense Force stands as the country’s last hope of survival. Within the secure school gates, the graduating class is readying themselves to carve out their own future.

Sharp-tongued, darkly funny, and uniquely Aotearoa, For Country, propels us into the future, across places and decades to ask what we would do when faced with impossible decisions. 

An incendiary new play by Joni Nelson (8 Reasonable Demands, Together Forever) For Country will be brought to life by ATC’s Youth Company.

Auckland Theatre Company’s Youth Company

Our Youth Company is a part-time, year-long programme offered free to participants aged 18 to 25. Our Youth Company lets young people learn in a working theatre, feel comfortable in this space, and train in an environment that acknowledges the enormous strength and resilience it takes to be an artist.
