Here’s an opportunity for music-lovers to get together at a Sing-in at Waiapu Cathedral. This year the all-comers choir will workshop and perform two magnificent Glorias, by 16th Century Antonio Vivaldi and contemporary British composer John Rutter.

Singers will gather in the Cathedral to learn and rehearse the music, socialise over afternoon tea and then present a short concert.

Anthony Tattersall, Director of Music at Waiapu Cathedral, will run the workshop with the help of keyboard maestro Michael Fletcher, of Wellington, who will accompany the choir on the mighty cathedral organ. Anthony and Michael are both very experienced musicians and conductors, and make events like this both fun and fulfilling. Those who have attended previous Sing-ins will know that this is a great experience.

The event is open to all singers, though the ability to read a score is helpful. All music will be provided, so to ensure we have enough scores available singers are asked to register and pay for the workshop on this site to reserve their place. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students. 

And for those who like to listen rather than sing, the concert starting at 5 pm is open to all for a $10 donation at the door.
