      Maunga Mayhem 2.0 is back for 2024! 

      An obstacle adventure race like no other that will take place through a stunning sub-tropical landscape in the heart of Maungatapere.

      In a stunning new location, participants of all ages will be challenged to overcome a range of action-packed adventure obstacles.  This year’s event will take place in the sub-tropical paradise “Land of the Lotus” on Mangakahia Road in Maungatapere.  (Parking will be via Mannington Road with a 15 min scenic stroll to the Race Centre.)

      Participants will race their way through stunning watergardens, and banana plantations. They will stomp through the muddy swamp and marshland and tackle a range of obstacles along the way. They will navigate local bush and rolling hills and will crawl, climb, scramble, balance, jump, splash and navigate their way to the finish line.

       It promises to be a challenging, action-packed, fun day out with three races to cater for all ages, the whole family, friends and workmates - there is something for everyone!

      Below your can purchase your tickets for your child and yourself, just pick the race for you. For sale is Maunga Mayhem 2.0 merchandise. We have available Cotton T-Shirts, Dri Fit T-Shirts, Hoodies, Caps and Bucket Hats.  In order to have your merchandise available for pick up  BEFORE the race you must place your order by Midnight on Sunday 17th March. Merchandise ordered after this time will be available for pickup from school in the week following the race.

      Event Location
      Maunga Mayhem is run by the Maungatapere School Parent Teachers Association and will take place at Land of the Lotus in Maungatapere. Click here for the map showing how to find it (only 15 minutes) from Whangarei.

      Registration
      Registering for this event means that you have read and accepted our waiver and understand the competitor notes.

      Major Mayhem 5km Ages 12 years and over
      Mini Mayhem 1.5km Ages 6-12 years
      Mixed Mayhem 1.5km Ages 4-8 years + Adult (Team of 2)

       

      • ​Early collection of race packs and wristband numbers is available at Maungatapere School on Friday 22 March 2024 from 2pm to 4pm.
      • All competitors will need to register before their race briefing at the registration desk to pick up their race numbers.
      • The registration desk will be open from 9am on Saturday 23 March 2024 at the event venue "Land of the Lotus".
      • Each race will have a safety briefing 15 minutes prior to it’s start time. This will take place in front of the registration tent. Attendance is compulsory.

      Safety briefing times

      • Major Mayhem – Safety briefing @ 10:00 am (race starts 10:15 am)
      • Mini Mayhem – Safety briefing @ 10:45 am (race starts 11:00 am)
      • Mixed Mayhem – Safety briefing @ 11:30 am (race starts at 11:45 am)

      The top 3 place getters will be acknowledged at the prize giving that will follow after the last race at approximately 12:15 pm and there are awesome major spot prizes to be won.

      Food will be available to purchase – CASH only.
