Direct from the world premiere at Holland Dance Festival, the New Zealand Dance Company showcases unique creative voices in Whenua - a stunning double-bill which explores our relationship to the land and our natural environment.
Celebrated indigenous artist Rodney Bell (Ngāti Maniapoto) and acclaimed choreographer and Creative Director of World of WearableArt, Malia Johnston collaborate to create Imprint. Prepare to be entranced by their innovative choreography combined with captivating soundscape and digital design.
This new work will be paired with Eddie Elliott’s (Ngāti Maniapoto) Uku - Behind the Canvas which premiered in 2022 receiving rave reviews, making a distinct yet complimentary programme. Uku is inspired by the Māori Pūrākau (mythology) of Hineahuone, the first woman, created by Tāne-Mahuta from clay. This work explores the power of vulnerability and the strength within struggle.
Awaken your senses with Whenua – a breathtaking creation by three of Aotearoa’s most exciting choreographers.
