Love the cringe comedy of The Office – watching very flawed people trying so hard to do good, that they destroy everything they love... but find redemption in the end? Well, that's been the recurring theme of a year-long, cross-planet Zoomprov between Bianca Casusöl (Magnet Theatre, New York Improv scene) and Ben Zolno (Improv Connection, Wellington & Beyond). Join us for the in-person debut of this grounded, edgy, hilariously painful ride through hell... with a happy ending!

"Wow, those characters were... damaged! But I loved them." – Alina Huff

Combined, Bianca and Ben have been doing improv for almost 40 years. Bianca Casusöl is a performer based out of New York City, performing at The Magnet Theater, The People's Improv Theater, DSI Comedy Theater, and now teaches at The Second City. Ben trained at The Second City in Chicago, and performed at iO. He now performs in several improv duos out of Brisbane and Wellington, and teaches the Masters' Program at his long-form school Improv Connection. They're both passionate about freedom of play, and perpetual learning.

      One Star
      Love Lamp

Ever found a film review online that blew your mind? The kind where they missed the point of the whole movie, and spent most of the review angry at the seat they were in?

One Star finds those reviews, gives them a dramatic reading, and improvises a new story inspired by that review —“fixing” this beloved film for this random reviewer!

Previous shows turned Love Actually into a story about toxic friends and the knock-off Beatles, and turned Chitty Chitty Bang Bang into a tale of teens in the tunnels under a cinema to avoiding watching Chitty Chitty Bang.

      Testimonials
"Get this show to Edinburgh” - Steven Lyons

“When is One Star coming back?” - at least one person per month

Winner, Late Night Knife Fight Tāmaki Makaurau #2

One Star is a supergroup of three Auckland comedians (Louise, Rebecca and Gareth) exploring an unhinged idea. As well as One Star, the trio have collaborated in shows with Love Lamp, Improverished and Casual First Date. Truly a Neapolitan ice cream of improv and friendship.
