Step back into 1962 Baltimore, where big dreams and even bigger hair take centre stage! Hairspray follows the quirky and plus-sized teenager, Tracy Turnblad, who has just one goal, to dance on the “Corny Collins Show.” When a twist of fate puts her in detention alongside the African-American students at her school, she learns some smooth moves that not only land her a spot on the show but also propel her into the spotlight.

As Tracy becomes an overnight sensation, she uses her newfound fame to fight for racial integration on the popular TV program. But it’s not all smooth sailing, network producer Velma Von Tussle and her mean-spirited daughter Amber will do whatever it takes to keep Tracy from achieving her goals. With the support of her friends, including heartthrob Link Larkin, the dynamic Motormouth Maybelle, and the ever-energetic Corny Collins, Tracy shows that you can’t stop the beat when it comes to fighting for what’s right.
