What I've learnt after 23 years as a forensic scientist and by not living in a TV show. Popular media misses a lot, and in my experience, there is gold in reality. In a career examining over 160 homicides, I have had an unusual tiki-tour of the country; I've been asked into people's homes for all the wrong reasons. These sordid yet often very Kiwi experiences have taught me to see things from a different perspective, rather than shaped by popular media and 'the news'. 

The talk is rated R16 due to its adult themes and content. However, there is nothing overly gratuitous or unsavoury. There are even some funny bits.
