Create your own spoken word poetry in this enjoyable and interactive 90-minute workshop. Whether you are a slam poet, a rapper, a writer, someone who loves improvising or you just want to have fun with words, this workshop is for you – and is open to all.

The workshop will be facilitated by Manaia Tuwhare-Hoani (Ngapuhi, Ngatiwai, Ngati Tautahi). Manaia is a young wahine Maori spoken word poet with a passion for storytelling. She believes everyone is capable of creatiing poetry.

Manaia uses spoken word to connect to her whakapapa and as a platform to bring unspoken mana Maori issues and topics to light, to explore and expand her own creativity and identity within her culture and to bring that into the classroom and board room and everywhere in between.

Manaia has held her highly successful workshops with schools, community groups and with corporate clients. They all love having fun creating spoken word poetry together and creating work of their own.

This workshop will be highly creative. You will create a poem together then get the chance to create your own bit of spoken word poetry and perform it. Book your spot now!

Manaia’s workshop has been generously sponsored by Toi Ngapuhi.
