A rare opportunity to visit this exclusive wildlife restoration project at Ocean Beach, Hawke’s Bay!

      Ticket numbers are strictly limited!

A fantastic gift experience or a treat for yourself – the Cape Sanctuary is on private coastal land with spectacular views.

The total walk is about 14km along the beach front and farm tracks, in wonderful scenery - dramatic cliffs, long sandy beaches, an endless horizon...

It starts and finishes at beautiful Ocean Beach, just south of Cape Kidnappers.

Visit the predator-fenced wildlife sanctuary where takahe, kaka, kakariki and tuatara may be seen. The landowners have a vision - to restore the coastal communities of native land birds, seabirds, reptiles and invertebrates that would once have thrived there, back to the peninsula.

You will have earned the delicious lunch (included) at the end of the walk – and there are water-bottle refilling stations (& loos) along the way.

To reduce waste, please remember to bring your reusable water bottle.

And take care to bring all your rubbish back & dispose of it properly.

      *Please note:

      • You can start the walk any time between 9.00 and 10.00 am – it’s not a race!
      • Bring a water bottle with you.  We will have water refill stations around the course to top up your bottles.
      • Limited toilet facilities along the course.
      • Bring sunblock, a hat and camera.
      • Please leave all gates as you find them and treat all electric fences as LIVE.
      • As lunch will be at the end of the walk, at the day-house, we recommend you bring a snack.
      • NB: there is limited cell-phone coverage out there, especially on the flat.
      • Please DO NOT bring your dog, or other family pet.
      • No bikes, sorry.
      • Not really suitable for small children.
