Kerikeri Theatre Company, in conjunction with Kainui Road Vineyard, is excited to be back in 2025 with its 6th season of Shakespeare Under the Stars! 

Now an iconic and feature event on the Far North summer calendar, founding director Barbara Kirkman brings life to Shakespeare’s tragic-comedy ‘The Tempest’, against the backdrop of Kainui Road’s spectacular vineyard.

Bring family, friends, and a picnic. Arrange your picnic rug with comfy cushions or low sand chairs to join the groundlings for a magical evening al fresco. Or for more comfort choose a premium gazebo, with seating for four, one complimentary wine per guest, and a Kainui grazing platter to share – choose from either farmhouse with assorted meats, or the vegetarian option of mixed cheeses.

A range of colourful characters is here to delight you through stories of loss and recovery, punishment and redemption, the pain and beauty of young love ….

Meet Prospero, the deposed Duke of Milan who has turned to magic to bring all his enemies together on the island, punish them and restore his dukedom. Meet his assistants from the spirit world, and meet his beautiful daughter, Miranda, who really needs to find a suitable mate.
