Celebrating the ancestors and Māori wisdom in relationship to the WAHI TAPU (sacred sites) of WAIHEKE. This theatrical dance showcase is a celebration of Māori mythology in relation to the whenua (land) and moana (ocean) over time.
Using dance, storytelling, film, live music and waiata, this original performance speaks to the importance of mini (acknowledging) spaces and places of signicance on Waiheke Island. The mixed media performance has been co-created with local filmmaker Paora Te Oti Takarangi, alongside theatre maker Kashmir Postel, musician Matiu Te Huki and experienced dancers Kayla Hamilton, Amba-Liara Edwardes, Ava Cash and Te Kōmako Forde.
Enjoy an original performance that is emotionally moving as well as informative and eye opening.
WHAKATAUKI: Kaore he korero whakatiihake i te whenua, me korero ki te whenua (Dont talk about the land, talk to the land!)
Part of Artworks Theatre's Motu Matariki Festival this has been made possible through the funding by Foundation North.
