Ko Te Kawa Nui Ia He Manaaki i Te Tangata

Māoriland is committed to creating a safe environment for all our kaimahi and visitors.

The values and functions of Māoriland are derived from cornerstone principles of celebration, unity, vigilance, and respecting the mana of every person and taonga in our whare.

We ask that manuwhiri and visitors alike respect the mana of all who you may encounter.

Some of our spaces are small and lack airflow, so consider wearing a mask while watching a film. If you feel sick, please stay home.

Everyone including Kaumatua and Rangatahi, filmmakers, artists and industry, and members of the public have the right to be free of harassment, discrimination, sexism, and threatening or disrespectful behaviour - either in-person or online from others attending Māoriland events.

      Tikanga mō te Whakaaturanga

      • Arrive 15 Minutes Early: We ask that you arrive at your screening venue at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. This ensures you have time to settle in and avoids disrupting the karakia and opening of the screenings.
      • Q&A Sessions: Where filmmakers are present, the house lights will remain down until the end of the credits. A Q&A session will follow the screening, and we ask that you remain seated until the session has concluded.
      • Respect the Screening: To avoid disturbing others, please refrain from leaving your seat during the screening. Stay seated and remain quiet throughout the film.
      • Check Film Ratings: Please ensure you check the ratings for each screening. Some films may have content that is not suitable for all ages, so be mindful when choosing which screenings to attend.
      • Refund Policy: Please note, tickets are non-refundable. We recommend that you carefully select your screenings in advance. If you are unable to attend, consider gifting your ticket to a friend so others can enjoy the film. In the event of cancellation, tickets will be refunded excluding the booking fee included in the ticket price.

We look forward to sharing the magic of Indigenous cinema with you at Māoriland Film Festival 2025!
