Great Little Vineyards (GLV) in collaboration with Starkwhite will be hosting its eighth annual portfolio tasting in November 2025 at the incomparable venue Shed 10.
GLV is no ordinary wine merchant, and Art of Wine is no ordinary wine showcase. This event will bring together the visionary winemakers of tomorrow from the 35+ cutting-edge artisanal producers in the GLV portfolio under one roof, surrounded by art from some of New Zealand's greatest talents.
This event is not just about showcasing great wine. By hosting this diverse range of winemakers from New Zealand and across the globe, GLV will be exposing a huge range of products, styles and personalities. This will also make Art of Wine an educational event, introducing the most cutting-edge wine production techniques, and the colourful characters behind them, to the public. This will include workshops and group discussions with winemakers, and opportunities to interact with wine differently – specific wines paired with specific artworks and making use of different spaces and environments throughout the venue.
Art of Wine will be a dynamic journey through diverse and creative wines, hosted by the artisans who craft them. This will make Art of Wine 2025 more than just a product showcase. It will be an all-encompassing cultural event attended by the country’s most prolific artists, musicians, and media personalities, and you — the keen wine lovers, art aficionados and those who know how to celebrate life!
MASTERCLASSES
Riesling Timbre with Sierra Reed
2:00pm to 2:45pm
$20.00 per person (GA Entry not inlcluded, must have 1:00PM Session ticket for entry to the wider event)
Sierra Reed's winemaking story began in New Zealand; she evocatively describes her first experience tasting a Waitaki Valley Riesling, "as though I was smacked in the face with a handful of crushed limestone whilst being swept below the sea and stung by an electric eel." Now based in Australia, Sierra has maintained a love of Riesling and of the Waitaki Valley that has now seen her make 3 consecutive vintages from the region. She continues to produce the varietal from a site in Mount Alexander and, most recently, from her home vineyard in Torquay. This masterclass will delve deep into Sierra's passion for the varietal that transcends borders and shows off the diversity of terroirs unified by her trailblazing winemaking.
Into Alsace with Charles Sparr
6:00pm to 6:45pm
$20.00 per person (GA Entry not inlcluded, must have 4:30PM Session ticket for entry to the wider event)
Charles Sparr is one half of a dynamic coupling. Together with his wife Amélie, their love story was born from a love of wine — both of them coming from Alsace winemaking families, of which Charles is the 8th generation. Since launching with their début 2017 vintage, Amélie and Charles have gained acclaim for their organics and biodynamics-focussed approach, becoming a rising star producer in a storied winemaking region. Charles will present a deep-dive into Alsace terroir, with a particular focus on Pinot Noir — including a taste of the very rare high-density single vineyard 'Jardin d'Eden Vogelgarten' from one of only 250 magnums produced.
