A discussion on the history and return of Kororipo Pā to Ngāpuhi.
The Turner Centre invites you to an engaging evening discussing the historic Kororipo Pā site. Wrongfully transferred into private ownership in 1838, and later held by successive private and Crown owners, Kororipo Pā has finally been returned to the guardianship of Ngāti Rēhia on behalf of Ngāpuhi, following the formal handover on 23 May 2026.
The discussion will be led by Kipa Munro, Kaumātua and Chairperson of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rēhia, who played a key role in coordinating negotiations with the Crown and Treaty settlement officials. Insights will also be shared by David Clendon, who's experience in heritage, regional advocacy and Northland's cultural landscape provides important context to the site's significance.
Attendees will learn about Kororipo Pā's history, its cultural importance and the advocacy that restored it to its people.
