The story unfolds on a mythical Greek island and follows Sophie Sheridan who dreams of a romantic white wedding with her father walking down the aisle. There is however one catch, as she doesn't know who her father is. Donna, her mother, has had several romantic flings in her early years. Sophie finds out that there are actually three different men who could be her father. So she secretly invites them all to her wedding.  The story gathers momentum as Donna finds out and meets the three men she has had a liaison with. All is well in the end as Donna does find her true love and Sophie and her man decided not to marry but to seek adventure out in the big wide world.
