THE PROM — A Musical Comedy With Heart, Hope and Full-Out Glam

Get ready, the glittering, high-energy Broadway sensation THE PROM is taking the stage in Rotorua, and it’s bringing more sequins, sass, and soul than ever before.

When four down on their luck Broadway stars discover a small town girl who simply wants to take her girlfriend to the prom, they decide to make it their new cause. What begins as a clumsy PR stunt quickly transforms into an uplifting journey of courage, connection, and the reminder that everyone deserves a place where they belong.

Bursting with show-stopping dance numbers, powerhouse vocals, outrageous comedy, and heart-melting moments, THE PROM is a celebration of love in all its forms, loud, proud, complicated, and defiantly joyful. This is a musical that will make you laugh out loud one minute and wipe away tears the next.

This Rotorua Musical Theatre production brings together a dazzling creative team, with Ben Kidd making his directorial debut, Alex Pelham-Waerea showcasing his smooth vocal leadership, and Samantha Jones shaping the show as choreographer. Alongside a vibrant cast of local talent, they deliver a feel-good spectacle with real heart. Expect a colourful world of larger-than-life Broadway personalities, heartfelt storytelling, and a soundtrack that will have you humming long after you leave the theatre.

Join the celebration. Feel the joy. Be part of The Prom.

Whether you come for the music, the message, or the magic of live theatre, one thing is guaranteed, you’ll leave with your heart a little fuller and your spirit a whole lot brighter.
