Two mice, a grasshopper, and a weta live the dream suburban lifestyle in their little mousehole; they play cards, grow their small garden, reminisce about the past - but when one of them disappears the same night an old friend comes back from the dead, cracks start to form in their perfect world. Is it time the group risks the outside world? Will their missing friend return? Or is it true that when you leave, you can’t come back?

Countdown To Midnight is a one-act, youth-led play about a tiny cast of critters in danger too large to comprehend. Though it begins as a comedic insight on life in a mousehole, it slowly transforms into an exploration on what makes life important. This thrilling and heart-breaking story forces you to grapple with mortality, the regrets of a tragic past, and the lies you tell yourself to feel happy.
