      Chamber Music New Zealand Presents:

      Ā MUA
with Tina Makereti and Riki Gooch

“...each generation can traverse these waters, put down an anchor, and take in the view. This is a Māori futurism.”
      – Hana Burgess & Te Kahuratai Painting, ‘On’ata, anamata: A whakapapa perspective of Māori futurisms’ (2020)

Weaving the powerful kupu of acclaimed author Tina Makereti and Riki Gooch’s visionary Rangatuone approach to taonga puoro composition, Ā Mua brings a story of Māori futurism to life.

Through four movements inspired by the Māori creation story, this performance journeys from the elemental to the contemporary, grounded in mātauranga Māori.

Featuring live music and narration, prepare to be immersed in this spellbinding new work.
