An intimate evening with the Mason Brothers, Wayne and Paul, in their original hometown.
The brothers take a journey through nearly sixty years of Wayne’s songs, from Upper Hutt band The Fourmyula (NZ’s no. 1 song “Nature”), to Rockinghorse in the 70s (“Thru the Southern Moonlight”), to the early years of The Warratahs (“Hands of My Heart”), and Wayne’s solo work since then – Wayne has never stopped writing songs.
For this acoustic duo, Wayne is on vocals with guitar or piano, including some of his brilliant blues playing. Meanwhile, younger brother Paul is on genetically matched backing vocals and string bass.
Wayne tells the amazing stories behind the songs and his storied life in music, Paul chipping in with his fanboy chatter. This is a real Upper Hutt show – Fraser Crescent and Fergusson Drive are in the mix – the brothers celebrating their early life where Wayne’s music began.
In 2025 Wayne was inducted into the NZ Music Hall of Fame for a second time with The Warratahs, having previously been inducted with The Fourmyula in 2010. As far as we know, he is the only musician inducted with two different bands.
